Welcome to the start of me changing my life. You see, I've spent decades thinking of myself as a craftsman. As a teacher. Even as an athlete.

But I've never thought of myself as a salesman. Sales was always Somebody Else's Problem. Something I was glad not to have to deal with.

There's a relief and a simplicity in that. On the other hand, it's a weakness. What good does it do to build things, and know things, and even do things, if you can't share them with those who will benefit from it?

Therefore, Gumroad.

I'm calling this my Gumroad Experiment. Experiments are when you try something not knowing what the result will be, pay attention to the results, and learn. Stick with me and we'll learn together.

My experiment plan is to post weekly. Subjects may include but are not limited to:

Deconstructing the deconstruction: EvolutionistX takes on the sophistry of "woke" mathematics this week. 2+2 is 4 and the world is flat: assumptions and approximations

To argue about whether the “basic” or “expert” versions of these fields is more correct generally misses the point: each serves a specific purpose. If I am calculating the distance between my house and my friend’s, I do not need to factor in the curvature of the Earth; if I am calculating the distance between my house and the antipodes, I do. If I am balancing my checkbook, I can safely assume that all of the numbers are written in base-10; if I am trying to figure out if the 16-bit integer limit will make my airplane crash, then it helps to know binary. If I tell my kids to “stay still so I can take your picture,” I don’t want to hear that Brownian motion technically makes it impossible to hold still.

Read the whole article. It explains clearly the necessity of matching mental models to needed resolution and of sane education progressions.

And no, "2 + 2 = 5" has never been believed in any human society. For values of "2", "+", "=", and "5" that match ordinary human experience. All children learn this; it takes a higher education to condition out that knowledge.

Food

You're not getting enough high-quality protein in your diet.

At least, I'm not. Unless I make a deliberate effort to include more and better protein in my diet. My target is 0.75 - 1.0 g of protein per pound of bodyweight per day.

That's a lot of hamburger!

An easy way to add 30g of protein is with whey protein. I used the big name brands available at my local box stores for a while. Those worked well enough, but I was never happy with the crud in them. (Sucralose? Really?). I'm trying to get clean and healthy, I don't want garbage additives in my protein powder.

Then I found True Nutrition. Their whey isolate protein powder contains... 100% whey isolate! Just what I was looking for!

They have optional flavor add-ins, but I'm happy to add some honey or maple syrup to my protein shakes if I need a little sweetness.
